File Upload and Indexing FAQ
How do I upload files?
Section titled “How do I upload files?”The exact upload workflow depends on how your VizSeek environment is configured. Some teams upload directly, while others connect VizSeek to existing repositories, vaults, or document systems so files can be indexed from the source.
What happens when a file is indexed?
Section titled “What happens when a file is indexed?”During indexing, VizSeek processes the file so it can be searched and connected to related results. Depending on the file type and workflow, indexing may also include extracting metadata, generating search-ready representations, or linking the file to related content.
Why did my file not index correctly?
Section titled “Why did my file not index correctly?”Common causes include:
- Unsupported or malformed source files.
- Missing access to the source location.
- Incomplete file transfers.
- Data quality issues in the original asset.
- Environment or processing interruptions.
What file types are typically supported?
Section titled “What file types are typically supported?”VizSeek commonly works with engineering and manufacturing file types such as CAD models, 2D drawings, PDFs, images, spreadsheets, presentations, and related technical documents.
Does file quality matter?
Section titled “Does file quality matter?”Yes. Clearer, more complete files usually lead to better indexing and better search outcomes. Low-quality scans, incomplete drawings, or inconsistent source data can reduce downstream usefulness.
What should teams do before large indexing projects?
Section titled “What should teams do before large indexing projects?”Before a large indexing effort, teams should review:
- Which repositories are in scope.
- Which file types matter most.
- Whether duplicate or obsolete content should be included.
- Whether access permissions are ready.
- How indexing success will be validated.
